Welcome to my tiny slice of the World Wide Web. I have no idea how you got here, but it is good to see you.
Who am I and what do I do? I guess I am still trying to find that out, but I currently find myself as a blogger with a nascent career as a 53-year-old YouTuber.
I don’t take myself too seriously, and I love what I do. Always have done, even if it has not been very conventional.
My route to where I am today has come by way of a variety of jobs which have comprised my ‘career.’ A male chambermaid in a 4-star Munich hotel, before adding a star as a bellboy; an aid worker on the edge of Siberia, in Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Somalia, and Rwanda; a laser crystals researcher in Russia; a logistics expert in Finland and Russia; an English, French, German, and Russian teacher in Hiroshima; a real estate agent, compressed air leakage franchisee; and a blogger, turned writer running the largest English-language news portal in Croatia.
I am a great story teller, both in person, and through my words. On my websites and channels, or yours. And after 20 years in Croatia and the wider Balkan region, I am starting to understand a few things and how this region works. Local knowledge with a foreign eye can be a powerful combination.
I also consult on tourism, from remote work to national tourism boards, to medical tourism (I was the 2020 International Medical Tourism Journalist of the Year in Malaysia, for example).
